Then I decided to make it easier on myself for a change and use book pages. Isn't this so fun?
I knew I wanted to run the pages through the printer. Again, to make it easy on myself, I found a book at the thrift store that was roughly 8 1/2 x 11. I used a print from Karen at The Graphics Fairy and printed out a 3 1/2" x 5" Santa. To give it more stability, I backed it with...business cards. On my way to looking for the cardstock (I didn't use it all for Healthy Chick's wedding, did I?), I found several packages of business cards. I figured I'd use what I found and took the cards apart. Each Santa is backed (using a glue stick) by four cards. I centered the Santa on the cards and then cut a dovetail on the bottom.
Holes were punched to thread them on jute, to make them look a little more refined, you could use ribbon. After seeing this photo, it looks like a little trim along the top might finish them off better. Or maybe some distressing on the edges. I think they're just darling. You know how some things turn out better than you had envisioned them?
You could really go crazy and make one of these as long, or as many, as you want (unless you start running out of print cartridges). Wouldn't these be cute with bird graphics in the spring? The only thing I purchased was a 99-cent book at the thrift store which can be used for other projects.
And look what I received in the mail from Marty today! Yes, I was one of the lucky winners from her giveaway. Now I gotta figure out what to make with it. Thanks, Marty!
I hope my Book-Page Santa Bunting has inspired you!
