Bench Revamp

Hey girls!  Today I went Christmas shopping with Healthy Chick.   She really has a baby-bump, now.  We also fit in a side trip to IKEA. You know how that store is--everything is so reasonable--you pick up a thing here and a thing there and pretty soon you have quite a bag full of things treasures!  I'll have a couple of goodies to show you from the shopping trip soon (I hope).  But, I digress, I'm really here to show you what else I got done today.

Do you remember this little bench, first seen below?

I'm referring to it as a "bench," but it's not really to sit on.  If you look closely, you will see there is a kitty food and water dish to the side of it.  So, it's really a kitty-napping bench.  I used my friend Traci's thorough instructions for painting metal and painted satin silver over the brassy gold.

The top was kind of crushed flat, so I used some batting scraps (you know how I love me some scraps!) to fluff it up.  I left the beige fabric on because the staples weren't.  going.  anywhere.

You all know this part--yadda yadda--staple.  I turned the raw edges under to keep things neater.  See the dots that have the coral color in them, too?

Here's where it's going "after!"  Hmm, I think the greens go together better than what you would think from this photo.  If you scroll back up, you can see that I chose the satin silver paint because of the picture frames.  I haven't used the satin silver in a long time and it's really pretty!  Edited to add:  Click to see - Drapery Reveal

Another one of those devilish little details, done!

  4. I think I'm going to have to make the drapes for the guest bedroom and I'm thinking along the lines of those you did, Kim. Although, my vision has me destroying three different drapery panel designs to get the look in my head. If I could just clear up my craft room a little more and get that sewing machine out of its box! : )

  5. You are a much better woman than I am, turning those raw edges under! I'm WAY too lazy for that! Your cat is a lucky camper!

  6. I leave my own state to travel to IKEA - so worth it. I can spend hours in that place. It might as well be Disney World for me; and don't get me started on lingonberry sauce and Swedish meatballs.

  7. Very nicely done Kim! The colour and print are perfect. Such a lucky cat.
I love IKEA too. My daughter and I always arrive early to have our $1.00 breakfast ( let me guess - it's $.50 in the USA) and then start shopping. I just bought the Santa fabric. It is so cute. Glad to see Healthy Chick still has time to shop with Mom. Hope all are well.
