A warm (humid) welcome to you, friends, this Fourth weekend! Looking at these photos, I wish I would have prepared an ice cold pitcher of lemonaide for us all to enjoy.
I'm not even sure where to start. I have been inspired by so many of your outdoor spaces. With all of the summer, outdoor living talk, it got me to thinking about how sad and neglected this space looked.
See? Saaaadddd. Neglected. Join me and I'll walk you through the steps I took to get to the "after."
- Recovered Darling Husband's chair
- Added Pillows in both outdoor fabric and denim
3. Made new slipcover for ottoman, using an inverted box pleat to make it more tailored.
4. Purchased new lamp (Uh, oh, this one isn't staying. As much I love it, it's too short and the woven seagrass(?) gets wet, yes, wet in our awful humidity.) I looked at TJs, as you know, as well as Home Goods and thrift stores. I don't know what I'm going to do yet.
5. After the above improvements, decided the space needed a shot of color.
6. Added RED burlap ♥ and other touches of red.
7. Hunted around for white cottage/beach accessories
8. Halled out broom and shop vac
9. Found shutter doors in garage behind shop vac and luggage carrier, added those, too.
Now, let's have some fun! Roll your mouse over the below photo for a before and after.
After. Before. After. Before...
Ahhh. Sit back. Relax, and...Pass the lemonaide!
Purchases: 5/8 yd. outdoor fabric @ $12/yd; 5 yds. denim @$6.50/yd; 1 1/2 yds. red burlap@$3.99/yd. Approx. cost: $45. Plus, there's enough denim left to make a TV stand slip.
Come back next week and I'll share the table runner "how-tos" with you!
Partying here:
Congrats. You got it done - on time and for a really great price. Love the slipcovered ottoman and beachy accessories. Shame about the lamp getting wet! I'm sure you will find the perfect lamp soon.
ReplyDeleteOh and I can't forget to mention the special effects....show-off!
That is an awesome redo! I have one question: Where did you find the red flowers? I have been looking for some just like that to go in a crock to sit in the middle of my dining room table. I can't seem to find what I'm looking for but your look PERFECT! Please share. You can answer me back here or my e-mail address is readingmom@windstream.net and THANKS!
