French Settee Inspiration

So.  I got this French settee from CL (photo from CL)  I fell in love with it immediately.  The curvy lines, the raised medallion.  The price.  It needs a bit of a face lift, however.  I like the black paint, so I will probably leave it--the cushions and fabric need serious updating.  Taking a look at some inspiration...

 Classic Linen

 Serene gray damask

Shabby Deconstruction

"Wow" pillows

The caning has one small crack, so I'm going to try to repair it (with some glue?) without replacing it--we'll see how that goes.  This type of caning is in a sheet, so it's not nearly as intimidating as reweaving if I need to go that route.   I'm really leaning toward the classic linen finish.  I wouldn't rule out a pretty toile, either.

Have you seen any settees that you would recommend as inspiration?  .  It just occurred to me that I never did reveal the price.  Are you curious?
It was $20.

  2. Wow amazing deal. I can't find a settee for under
$300 on CL and none of them look as good as yours! And did they actually post this one under "settee" or just "loveseat" or something else? It's a bit of an adventure to look for them on CL because everyone calls them something different!

  4. Cute! What a great deal. I have had *some* success with using glue to repair cane. If you can find a loose piece somewhere, you can weave it in to help disguise broken pieces. The paint helps disguise it in the end more than anything!
