Everything You Wanted to Know About Floral Balls

Yes, indeed, things are progressing along since my last post.  In just a few days time I've gone from feeling overwhelmed to feeling like I'm on top of things.

When we last left these floral balls, they looked something like this.  Now, they are looking like this:

I {heart} this photo!  Before you go all 'smarty pants' and think these are sooo easy, there was a bit of a learning curve.

I wanted the leaves to both fill up space and also add depth, so I used the above method to attach them.

You will need to make sure all of your flowers have the same depth of petals for use on the same ball.  It will be really wise to pre-purchase those you will need in advance, NOT plan on going back to the store to get matching ones.  (You might be "okay" on this, if you don't get them at the Dollar Store.  Every time I went I couldn't find precisely the ones I had before.  I even started stalking various community Dollar Stores.)

There is one each of  2", 3", and 4" styrofoam balls.  I was able to get away with no glue for the most part.  My favorite?  The 3" one.  It turned out the fullest and, I think, the prettiest.  This photo is deceiving, as the 4" looks the biggest around.

A word to the wise, hydrangeas don't work that well, since they have several little flowers on one "head".  Some of those I snipped into individual stems then glued several into one hole in the styrofoam.  In general, I used one bunch of flowers (6 blooms per bunch) per inch in diameter, e.g., approx 4 bunches on the 4-inch.

While I was working on these, check out this flower ball garland I found (source--see my Pinterest board).  Isn't it fantastic?!  I'm not getting any bright ideas (I hope).  But, I could string them up on ribbon.  And hang.

I've got the ribbon, after all.

I'm making progress and will have some other goodies to share.  I fully recognize I have wedding-brain, BUT all of my ideas have been adapted from "home" ideas--I'll leave it up to you to be inspired to change them back into great ideas for your home.  Warmly,

I've been quite the recluse lately, so I'm going partying:
