More Opinions Needed!

Since you all are so fantastic about brainstorming and having wonderful ideas, I want to ask for your opinions again.  What runner style to do you think will look the best in the above fabric at Healthy Chick's wedding reception?  The flowers in the fabric are pretty large-scaled, about 6-plus inches across.

                 #1   -     #2      -       #3      -     #4      -       #5      -      #6    -  #7

These are the options.  The tables will be round and seat either eight or ten people.  Let me know which number you like best, or toss your own idea into the ring.  I could make squares or circles (to use as napkins or placemats later?), too.  I guess that's the problem with DYI, the options are limitless, although the fabric isn't.  I have four yards, so the runners would be 36" long.

Floral and table decor Options

Well, let me have it.  Waddaya think? (If you need more inspiration, here's a shot of the happy couple!)  So my dear, creative friends, let's see what you have to say!

  1. Ahhh pretty fabric!!! My daughter's wedding was last summer and I made her runners trust me make it easy on yourself. There is so much to do and since you're a do it yourself person like me your hands will be in it all!!! Ours fabric was alot like yours it was chippendale waverly I made mine 108 inches long and added a little crystal to the end mine were like your option that has the point. I thought I would never get them done I had to make 28. ugh.. Good luck with all your plans it's a great time enjoy it with your daughter. I think I have some of the photos on my blog if you want to take a peep. Good luck!!

  3. I like the second one for two reasons. First, you will be making a ton of these and the less work, the better! Second, the pattern is bold enough without the addition of extras.
Just my opinion. I now that whatever you do will be stunning!

  4. BEAUTIFUL! I would use #5(the middle on the bottom)OR #3(second at the top)...They pick up and mimic the flower(paisley) Make sure, of course that the size of the the ruffle is either the same or larger than the flower, so it's easy on the eye and picks it up...
Whatever you do will be PERFECT and we "Want to see the finished project"!

  5. #4 is my pick. The beauty is in the fabric. Anything else will either detract or be overlooked.

  6. They are all so pretty...I'm a gather girl, so I'd choose 1, but like them all. I'm sure you will make a GREAT choice. Can't wait to see it!

  7. I think I prefer #4, that is the pleat right? Would you use the same fabric for the pleat that might eat up some yardage. It's lovely fabric though. Looks elegant.

  8. I vote #2 - classic, showcases the fabric, and quick to make. Your the M.O.B. - don't over schedule yourself. Something always comes up. Love the white flowers with the coffee beans.

Beautiful couple Such a creative picture!

  9. Hi Kim, Congratulations to the happy couple! I love the fabric and vote for either number 2 or number 7 but with only 1 row of pleats on the very end. The fabric has such a nice pattern it doesn't seem to need lots of frills and those would be less labor intensive. I made 150 napkins for my daughters wedding and by the end I was thinking, what in the world was I thinking? They will be pretty no matter which you choose.

  10. Hey, Kim! I'm drawn to the one with the rosettes but ONLY if the rosettes are purchased. Too much addtitional work if you're going to make them by hand.
But thinking about the length, if they are only 36" long they won't stretch the complete width of the table so I'd make them plain I think. (Can you believe I'm even saying that?) OR...what if you made long ruffles on the ends, say 12" or more out of a coordinating fabric that's very thin and flowing? (See, I knew I couldn't leave them simple!) Maybe even out of tulle. My reason for saying simple is the center pieces will take precedence so the runners wouldn't have to be very detailed.

But you know...you could even do the rosettes AND the long flowing ruffle! (I just can't leave well enough alone!)

  12. I think they should be simple in design, so I'd go for #2 (the point) or #& (pleats , top right hand of picture). The fabric is beautiful and I think the simpler designs will showcase that better.

  13. I would go simple if it hangs over the side it may not get noticed and if it is on the table a lot of ruffling may be in the way of the plates? Not sure.. just a thought. The fabric is gorgeous. Such fun plannig a wedding. I took your advice and used some blue in my pillows on the porch.. but also used some green which is in the room right off.. you had great advice.. thanks so much.

  14. Hi Kim,
I really like #3 with the rosettes. I just don't understand how you're going to do this if the tables are going to seat 8 to 10, and you have only 4 yards of fabric! It sounds to me like the runners won't go all across the table and over the edge? Round tables seating 8 to 10 are pretty large tables. It seems like you might only have enough fabric for about 4 - 6' runners (if you want them to go over the edge? How big is the wedding? Are the runners going on every table, or just a few?

Anyway, I really like the rosettes. I think they'd look pretty out of netting or chiffon in off-white. Rosettes always look so romantic and pretty - perfect for a wedding. Using a different fabric would also allow for more of your print fabric to be used for the runners.

Can't wait to see the finished product!
