Can you stand another post involving book pages? I suppose that question makes about as much sense as: Can you stand another post involving spray paint? Don't be silly, right?
I was all set to do a post that was more Christmas themed, but decided to eek this one in, so you could plan around it for Thanksgiving if you wanted.
Like, I'm so sure, you're waiting to see what I'm up to before you finalized your Thanksgiving planning.
You can probably figure out what I did. Being the good bloggy buddy that I am, I'll be thorough and tell you anyway. You will need: Book pages, floral wire, a leaf template (I Googled one), hot glue, branches, vase or container.
First find your leaf pattern. Place it on a stack of pages and cut around it. Next, cut floral wire. I used 12" lengths, but that was really too long. Eight inches might work better--you can be the judge.
I just placed the floral wire about 3/4s up the back of the leaf and kind of "zig-zagged" the glue over it, pressing the wire into the glue with the tip of my glue gun, if I needed to.
Scrounge up some sticks in your local stick-scrounging spot. Place your sticks in a vase.
Now comes the fun part, wind your wired leaves in place on your sticks. I suppose you could glue the leaves right to the sticks, but the wire gives you more options and you can reuse them or move them later if you'd like. You could distress the leaves with your distressing ink pad if you wanted--that would be really cute, too.
This project goes from "to do" to "ta da" in just a few minutes!

ReplyDeleteDon't take this the wrong way, but when I first glanced at your post the leaves looked like handprints!
And I LOVE any kind of craft with handprints. I'm thinking that would be a cute idea for a young group of kids. A handprint tree, or something...Anyway, I'll have to think on it but I think it has potential! Thanks for the unintentional inspiration!
Well, I haven't seen those before. How pretty. Love the setting (and that gorgeous Santos just behind them!). Linda
ReplyDeleteAh Kim, this is a very very good project. Sometimes the simplest make the most impact and then I look at it and think, "Now why didn't I think if that?" This is one of those projects. I love it. High impact, low dollar! Another winner, my friend. Thank you for sharing on the Boardwalk Bragfest!
ReplyDeleteLove it! What a great idea!

ReplyDeleteI love this! The (real) leaves in my fall tablescape are long dead. I think your leaves would make great replacements!

ReplyDeleteOh I love this idea! Thanks for your visit and leaving such a sweet comment about the keepsake stockings I made. Your kind words meant alot. And also, thanks for the invite, I'll be joining in tomorrow.
