Thrifty Finds

Today, I actually had some time to hit the thrift stores.  Although, I'm fully aware that many of us (me included) are doing pumpkin decor in anything other than more "natural" colors, I found this entire bag of pears, pomegranates, and sugar-glitter pumpkins in their true tones.  (I promise I didn't take the above photo with a flash--it looks a little like I did.)

They fill up my trencher so nicely--all for $3.  (Sigh, I miss my seashells.)

I can't deny it, they do look great in my living room.  (I like glittered fruit and I cannot lie...)

For a little fall/winter foyer change, I swapped out my one big picture for these two smaller ones.  The silver and gold vase, another thrift find today.  How much was this jewel?  I'm so glad you asked...

A meager $3.50!  It looks so much more in synch than the white one that's behind it.  I tried to pull the flowers out and put in the new vase, but they weren't budging.

Finally, I found my first piece of ironstone!  It actually says ironstone on the bottom.  Hopefully, we'll have a long and meaningful relationship...  (The little white splotch on the red loaf pan is sticker glue.)

You know this bright tomato-y red goes really well in my kitchen.  I'm not planning on keeping these mini loaf pans, however.  They seem to be a pretty good quality, so for $1 each, either one of the Chicks or I can use them for holiday baked gifts.

An observation about thrifting locally:  There are two thrift stores nearby only a couple of miles apart.  One is run by Light House Ministries.  It doesn't have quite the turnover as GW, but it always has a much larger selection of furniture and mirrors.  It's never as busy as GW, either, so I can browse, consider, and ponder this or that for as long as I want.  The GW "super center" is another matter.  That place is a "take no prisoners" situation.  People will run over you with their carts and block entire portions of the shelves so they can have "first pick."   Phew, I need to get there first thing in the morning or come ready to do battle.

  6. Love your table decorations. The glitter pumpkins are so pretty. I love the sparkle. Such a fabulous urn. Isn't it fun to find something at a thrift store or GW. Sometimes our GW is a stampede too, but it is still fun. Thanks for linking to TTT. Hugs, Marty

  15. I love glittered and beaded fruit! Those were a great find! My GW isn't too bad - I think most people that go there seem to be more interested in the clothes than the housewares (more for me)!
