Juggling Pin French Redo

I thought this was a bowling pin, but when I Googled it to check it out, nope, it's a juggling pin.

Here it is "before," which I showed you a tease shot of on an earlier post. You've seen these around blog land, haven't you?  It was purchased on clearance at TJ.

That wouldn't work for my house, so I primed, gave it a base coat of heirloom white, then marked out where I would paint my black diamonds using my soft sewing tape measure.  I wasn't overly precise because I wanted to give it a hand painted look.  Then I used acrylic paints for the black diamonds and green band.  To finish it off, I used umber glaze.

Here it is now.  Oh my, this is embarrassing.  Have you ever wondered why you don't see a chandelier in my dining room?  I have one.  Yes, I do.  It's in my master bedroom on the floor (it's one of those fold up ones).  The depressing, keeping it too real, reason--we have leaking problems in our dining room ceiling...

I had my heart set on putting it up here, it would really brighten this space up.  (You can see that this area needs some lovin'.)  But, alas, sigh, it's about 1/4 inch too tall.  No, we don't have a table saw, and, yes, I tried it in various places up here (you know, 'cause nothing's ever level) to no avail.  I really liked the green band against my green walls, too.

This is where it's sitting for now, on top of my hutch, I know, a bit ho-hum.  My next order of business was going to be to switch the hutch to fall colors--I'm not sure what I'll do now.

Close up.  Don't you {heart} all of the distressed details that I painstakingly added?  The joke's on me.  These imperfections happened naturally along the way, extra dabs of paint, trying to use tape (I found free handing worked the best), getting my hand in the paint.

I really like how it turned out.  It looks completely different.  I'd like to see a tassel, or something pretty tied around it.
