Pepper Grinder, Plus.

You haven't had "pretties" to look at in awhile, so I thought I'd show you some revamped thrift finds. The above button jar is really a...pepper grinder.

Here it is complete with some old, stale peppercorns and layers of gunk.  For some reason it just "spoke to me," saying "buttons, buttons."  (No, I didn't answer it back.)  I just adore the chunkiness of it.
So I de-gunked it, painted it, and gave it just a slight distressing, then, loaded it with every shade-of-white buttons I could find.  I think it would be fun with small seashells or sparkly things around the holidays.
Then again, maybe it looks a little too much like a pepper grinder...
Next up, the sweet little carved tray, so many possibilities.   I haven't distressed it yet, so it looks a little flat.  But how cute is it as a lift?
I like the lacy light it creates.
Here it is layered in my white hutch arrangement.
And doing kitchen duty.
Note to self, don't start a flower-arranging blog.  Could you tell I had fun playing with it?   I will be on vacation starting Tuesday.  I'm not sure how much, or if, I'll be on my computer.  I'm going to set up Fabric Fun Thursday and a another post ahead of time.  I'm linking with these generous hostesses:

  4. I'm so inspired by your thrift finds turned into great uses. No way does that pepper grinder look like it's misused when holding buttons, this is a fabulous idea and sooo nice.

And the tray is awesome for holding the shakers. I need to give that a try myself. :D

    Have a great vacations!
