River Rock Diffuser

These probably aren't really "river rocks," but it sounds a little chic-er than "One More Dollar Store Decor Item."  You will need (all items from dollar store):
  • one glass candle stick holder
  • one glass votive holder
  • bag of rocks - your choice
  • diffuser
  • glue (I used E-6000)
  • spray paint, optional

After I glued the two glass pieces together, I thought it looked a little bland.  So then I taped off the top, primed and spray painted the base a hammered bronze.   I think it lives a more harmoniously with the bronze in this space.

To finish it off, I put the diffuser in the container then placed the rocks around it.  I prefer diffusers and potpourri for home fragrance because they are low maintenance and pretty.

(Edited to add:  I've been looking forward to Lindsay's $5 Challenge at Living With Lindsay.  It appeals to my competitive nature - anytime I see the word "challenge" little bells go off in my head {in a good way!}  Check out the other links there, I'm sure there will be lots of talent and creativity!  My other challenge entry is my Spring Frame.

  12. Very pretty! I played around with a votive holder painted in that shade today (paired with a glass topper), but I just couldn't get the look I was after. This is fabulous, and I'm going to remember it the next time I go to Dollar Tree!

  13. Thanks for coming by my blog to comment.
I saw your entry earlier today and was impressed. I love the effect of a reed diffuser, but I don't care for the way they look. This is a perfect way to hide it.
I think the paint really makes it for me.

We're neighbors. I live in Bradenton.
I'll be checking back to see what you're up to. I'll be reading your theological blog too. Very interesting.
