Serendipity Do Dah Day(s)

Don't you just {heart} {heart} {heart} serendipity shopping days?!  Last week Healthy Chick and I met up to do a little shopping.  She wanted to get a warmer coat.  Winter, such as it is, is hanging on in the Sunshine State (although today looks very promising...).  I was just kind of along for the ride.  Wouldn't you know I found some treasures.  My first treasure was a bright green table cloth for the dining room ($10).  Do you know how hard it is to find a bright one?  The quality isn't super-duper, but it will be just fine for all of the use it will get.

Nest Next (I really did type nest instead of next and thought it was too cute to leave out!), I found these speckled spring eggs.  They are just larger than regular eggs you'd get at the grocery store and were about $7.  I thought by the time I bought eggs and spent my own time trying to replicate them, I was ahead.  Both treasures found at Ross of all places, I usually never find anything there.  (I am attempting side by side pictures, obviously the right one got cut off, next time!)
There was one more treasure I found while on this shopping trip, a shower curtain (at Dillards) I can't wait to show to you - that will be it's own post, though.  You know I have something up my sleeve.

Some serendipity thrift store finds include a pedestal.  It appears to have been the base for a hurricane candle holder.
Although the glass hurricane is long gone, it works just fine as a pedestal for all kinds of things.

Next is the little urn.  It was painted a crackle white.  All's it needed was a quick spray of heirloom white paint.

My final favorite, favorite little treasures.  The bunny was a gift from Healthy Chick purchased at the dollar store.  I forgot I had it.  Last weekend I was going through and cleaning out bins and bags in the garage (Darling Husband dropped off six bags plus at Goodwill). I would guess I received it between 10 and 15 yrs. ago, isn't it sweet?  The pheasant was another thrift store find, of course it was painted very seriously in dark colors.  I saw a quail that Miss Mustard Seed painted white and just knew I would do the same thing.  He's still at tad drippy and needs another coat or two of paint.  What finds have you gotten on your serendipity shopping days?

  3. Love the little girl. You've inspired me to go back & pick up some pheasants I saw. Do you mind telling me where you found those moss balls? I saw them somewhere, and have been everywhere trying to find them again. Thought the were @ Target, but unless they clearanced them out, I can't remember where they were.
