Pink, Tassels & Buttons

Wow!  Is this the fourth entry is this series?  (To see the rest of the series go to my archives and click on BASKET.)  This time I have a pink picket basket - technically it was sold as an Easter basket, but I don't think we're picky about those kind of details, are we?

As far as liners go, this one was uber easy.  If you have a basket somewhat like this, all you need to do is measure the diameter of the bottom and cut a circle that size (don't forget to add at least 1/2 inch around for the seam and remember, the dropcloth fabric is heavier, so if you use that, you might want to add 3/4 inch.)  I cut out a square then folded it into fourths then used a pencil and string as a compass to mark it then cut it along that line.
I measured the basket around at the largest part on the inside, added a seam allowance and extra height because I knew I wanted to put a tie around it.  Since the basket top is bigger then the bottom, you just need to shirr it a little to fit around the circle.

I wanted to give it a little something extra, so I cinched the dropcloth "bag" with a long piece of jute.  The tassels were made with craft string, the buttons were strung through their holes on the same string and glued to keep them in place.  I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

The liner can also get tucked in.  The jute tie is long enough to fit around the pickets and be tied again.  Do you want to know what I'm going to do with this basket?  Stick around.  Later this week I'll be letting you in on the secret.

  1. Oh your the make over platter girl! Thanks for coming by. I meant to do a bunch of visiting today but I have been tablescaping. Thanks for coming over. Next week I am putting up a Mr. Linky for Tuesday Trade Days. I figured people might like the idea but not like my cast off's. So dig around see what you don't want. Maybe someone will want it that has something you want.
BTW I'll be back later to look at the other basket therapy posts. Gotta go finishs tables now.
    Have a Blessed Evening,

  5. Kim, This basket is so cute and I can't wait to see what you put in it! Thanks for your visit and sweet comment on my Ballard Knock-off. You asked about the copyright. I had no problems with the printer. You could take a copy of the page from Digital Collage Sheets to the printer that states the images are for personal use only. Hope this helps.

  6. Hi Kim-

I love buttons and like to find lots of ways to use them. I never have seen this with the tassels. I think they look so chic and very trendy with the rope. And to answer your question that you asked in your comment on my blog. I have on a few occassions wiped my feet on my painted rug. Of course I laughed at myself.
