Doesn't the title of this post sound like an ice cream flavor? French vanilla, swirled with pale green and little nibs of pistachios? (I'll wait while you check your freezer to see if you have anything good in there...) hum, hum...
Are you back? Good.

This clock was another Thrift Store find. We have clocks all over the house, but I couldn't see one from where I curl up to read in the mornings. I found this little beauty for only $5. Initially, I was going to paint it black and highlight it with gold, but then I thought, that may be too b-ooOo-ring.
This is the clock "before"
luuve my French-y, curvy lines.
(Although the little critter feet are weird.)

Enter the pistachio. I wanted something bright.
This is a good example of taking something with classic lines (the clock) and using a contemporary element (bright paint) to update it.

This is were I was planning on putting it. It doesn't even look overly bright here. I tried glazing it, but I didn't like it as well, so rubbed everything off that I could.
Too cute!! That green is so cheerful!!

That clock is just plain fun! I love the shape and painting it a bold color was a gutsy choice that paid off. Good for you! I'm waiting for the day when I find a clock with a great shape like that. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I've used that same paint on some frames in my foyer. I love that color it makes everything just pop!
