Coastal or Elegant

Did you all have a fun-filled, long weekend?  We had a wonderful time and the entire family was here at once--I suggested we get our Christmas photo done--which was met with groans.  (I wasn't really serious, but thought it was a good idea, nonetheless.)

A couple of weeks ago, when I was taking some things up to the consignment store, I found these framed, encased paper roses.  At the time, the frames were painted in flat white.

It was one of those times, when I passed them by, thinking they were odd, but then thinking "odd" in a compelling sort of way.

I thought they would look good on my Master Bath wall.  (I had grown tired of the previous arrangement.)  First, the white needed to be repainted.  Next, the towel bar was moved about 8" to the left (originally, I had it installed so it was centered in the doorway view, but it bugged me, so I re-centered it on the wall).  The patterned "towel" is a liner I made for a basket.

That change made a change on this side of the room necessary.  The vase was brought in from the family room--the twigs seem a little aggressive to me, they may get swapped out.

Before

After

Back to the title of my post.  I was shooting for elegant.  Did I "over shoot" and move into a coastal look with the blue and bead board styled frames?

  5. I love it, Kim! I don't think it looks coastal at all. Now if you changed out the roses for starfish, I'd say yes. So how "aggressive" do the pussy willow sticks get? Are they picking on the roses? : ) I love the chandy you have in here.

  6. How about Coastal Elegance? But I don't think it looks too coastal at all. I didn't think that when I first saw it, but then I wouldn't care, I like coastal. It looks good. And that subway tile is very cool.

  8. Looks like Bee Lady and I were on the same wavelength! Coastal Elegance was my thought! I have an affinity for beadboard frames so I love them!

  9. I think the blue was a great choice! Do you have it tied into the room somewhere else? If not, perhaps a vase or painted towel basket in same color? Also, chandelier is too small for this area. Perhaps in a walkin closet? Or, add something to.it to make the size more grandiose? Also, if u are bringing something in, give it something to be friends with, of the same color, or type. You will have a very well rounded room like they do in the mags...cuz that's what they do! You are sooo creative and driven to make things beautiful around you. You have a true gift and vision!
