When Pinterest Goes Viral
How are you today? Are you all "Pinners?" Don't you just love Pinterest? All of the Pinning and inspiration...and more Pinning and Inspiration... Have you ever had it go viral on you? I may be overstating "viral," I suppose, since you probably need to get, like, 1,000,000 views on YouTube to be considered viral. Let me tell you about my viral story. (Both photos here have been "Posterized" on Picasa.)

Six-Foot Chick has this black and white, chocolate/vanilla, wedding cake bookmarked in Tumblr. I saw it and thought is was Cool. Very Cool. So, I did what any "Pinner" would do. I Pinned it! Do you know it's been repinned over 1,000 times? It just keeps getting exponentially bigger. My email Inbox has been filled and refilled with repins and "likes."
Next, you all knoooowwww about this. My t-shirt quilt which made my No. 1 post of 2011. It, alone, is responsible for over 52,000 Cheap Chic Home hits. I realize that may not be a lot for some blogs, but it's a lot for me!

ReplyDeleteMy pins don't go viral but my inbox is always full from Pinterest. Sometimes as soon as I pin something.
I'm a pinner but not gone viral. My most pinned post is a tray of roasted peppers and tomatoes lol!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I pinned on Pinterest and it's gone haywire. Not a day goes by where I don't get an e-mail saying someone else pinned my gratitude pin! A-Mazing!!!

52,000, that is huge!! Pinterest has now turned into my second biggest referring URL after GoogIe. I love pinterest, and just started doing some pinning....It is addictive!

I had my email come back to me as well. Not sure why. Then I had to fill out some form to get it to go through. Not sure if it ever did.

I get repins pretty regularly and something I pinned last night had 50 repins in five minutes and I was thrilled! If it went over 1,000 I'd probably throw a party! In all honesty, I'd be just as addicted if I never got a repin. I can't stay away from that place. They really should call it Pincrack! As far as my blog goes, I think I get about 50,000 hits a year. LOL Thats OK too.

ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! I tried to avoid Pinterest and was using it casually but about 2 weeks ago really hit is hard and I can only imagine the craziness that can ensure. Congrats to you!
ReplyDeleteI think those numbers are crazy, even for the big dogs! I'm doing good to get 10 on any given pin. I've had a couple of projects that occasionally keep getting pinned, but I don't think they've been pinned more than 30 times.
