Yum, just scrumptious! It was painted with ASCP* in Old Ochre and given two coats of her clear wax, only. (The ASCP appeal, for me, is lack of prep--you don't know how tempted I was to take my paint brush and start on my kitchen cabinets!)
And, since we all love a good before and after, let's take a moment to Ooo and Ahh(!) over the transformation. I originally had left the base of the dresser in the natural wood, too--I kind of wanted to keep the tie-in with the ladder shelf on the other side of the room, but it made the piece look too bottom heavy--so I opted to paint it.
When the replacement drawer pulls were purchased, I decided to go with a bronze wash instead of black. I'm glad I did as it gives them a softer look. (You know, the devil's in the details!) One more note: If you do a project like this, keep the old hardware until you get the new installed. I needed to reuse the screws on the top drawer, since they were longer from the extra wood depth.
Thank you for indulging me in a couple of more beauty shots...
(Note to self: Check for miscellaneous photo invaders, i.e., hampers.) This dresser has certainly been transported into the right decade--it looks fantastic in the room.
*(Edited to add:) ASCP is Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

Oh my word, what a fabulous piece. It looks amazing. Not at all like the old self. I love that new hardware too. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOH-Wow...wow...and wow! Who would ever think it was the same dresser? It is absolutely gorgeous...and I love the wood top all polished up...it really sets the paint off. I like the color of the pulls rather than the black, too. Great job- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteBeautiful transfomation Kim! Those pulls put it over the top!
ReplyDeleteThat looks beautiful. Great choice on pulls and leaving the top woodtone. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous - makes me want to find something to paint!
ReplyDeleteWow, Kim, it looks fantastic! Love the color you went with! The new hardware makes quite a difference, too. Love it! I'm going to do two side tables this year with the base painted and leaving the top stained {well, it will have to be restained}.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Kim! The difference between a dresser and a piece to admire.
ReplyDeleteNice job, Mom. That dresser was starting to get a little worse for the wear!
ReplyDeleteI own a very close cousin to this dresser!! Thanks for showing my how it will look! I can't decide on color. Go figure! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI had to scroll through the images three times to see what you were talking about with the hampers comment!!! lol Funny. The dresser is beautiful. Hope you are posting it all over.
ReplyDeleteIt gorgeous, Kim! Like you, I'm serious thinking about tacking my kitchen cabinets! Thank you for linking this lovely post to Potpourri Friday!

misc. photo invaders! LOL! Love this. It turned out great! I've had my bedroom armoire on my ASCP to do list for EVER! I hope I can get to it soon. It too is ready to come into the correct decade!
ReplyDeleteOh, man, I was just thinking today that I should do something with my awful bedroom furniture. We have a set that was my hubby's parents that went through a fire and you can tell there was damage. I have been reluctant because of the tops that can't be refinished, but now I see I can do it your way--I just am not sure how it would look in our room . We have 2 bureaus, and 2 night stands. Can you tell me what ASCP is and what you mean by wax? Give me a bit more detail please. I really don't want to do all the work it would take!! Perhaps I could eventually find something second hand, lol. Or.....wellllllll ??
ReplyDeleteWhat nannykim says: "Can you tell me what ASCP is and what you mean by wax?" This was such a beautiful refurbishing job! I have a dresser that looks just like your "before" picture that is hiding in a closet as it is functional, but unattractive... I'd love to do the same with it!
DeleteIt is Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. Sorry, I wasn't specific.
DeleteOHHH Ahhhh, Honestly, that is fabulous, I would not have known it was possible! Great job!
ReplyDeleteCarol
You did a beautiful job on this dresser.
ReplyDeleteVery nice
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! The pulls are really perfect.
ReplyDeleteWow I am shocked that is the same dresser. I love the new pulls that you used.
ReplyDeleteI have a dresser similar and I'm keeping the wood top too when I paint it, yours is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSwoon!
ReplyDeleteWhat a change for the better! Love the paint job and the use of those pulls to bring that piece to a more contemporary look, Kim! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the dresser makeover. I have several pieces sitting in my garage waiting for some ASCP!
ReplyDeleteRhonda
What a great makeover! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! I have something similar that needs some help! Did you redo the top as well?
ReplyDeleteYes the detailing if perfect. It all works brilliantly. You should be proud!
ReplyDeleteLou
How pretty! I love the hardware, you did a wonderful job transforming the dresser :)
ReplyDeleteSharon
I love what you did with the dresser! Now that I'm aware of ASCP I will be looking for it! Is the clear wax also an Annie Sloan product? Also do you use a brush or a rag to apply it?
ReplyDeleteSherri - I used Annie Sloan's clear wax and applied it with a rag.
