More decor progress has been made. Some things stayed the same, some are a little different from years past. Some things got plopped and dropped.
The cones went back up along the banister. I just A-Dore the cones. The CCH kids, not so much. I have stockings "in the wings" and I also cut some out of the stripe and zebra fabric (which I haven't gotten back to actually, um, sewing together, yet). Don't they look so inviting with the gifts popping out of the top. I found those boxes with some forgotten decor. I feel a bit wack-a-doo having saved them for the last couple of years. Who saves (really pretty) empty boxes? Edited to add: Cone instructions here.
A quick trip up the stairs--the tree is pretty much the same as last year. The wingback got moved over here and I don't know what it is, but nothing looks as Christmas-y as a wingback chair next to a Christmas tree, I can just picture snuggling with a little one reading The Night Before Christmas. The fairy fits perfectly here, since the little loveseat facing this is dark, she brings a bit of the dark color to this side of the space. I love her crazy hair and fluffy feathers on her back.
Back downstairs, we skipped right through the main living room and scooted over to the dining room. Yes, it's a 12-foot tree. If you're new to CCH, I did this tree in fall decor. There are berry and grassy looking garlands, the silver "tubing" you can see at the top and over to the left is supposed to be a vine. I thought it was very chic when I bought it, but most people who see it, think it's some sort of power cord (yeah, 'cause we're classy like that).
This is were the plop-and-go happened. There's really too much on the buffet, but when I started taking things away, I found I kind of liked the more-is-more look, wine barrel lid and all.
This chest/sidetable got moved from the family room to the opposite side of the dining room. Why? I had the area rug and stairway cleaned yesterday, all of the furniture got rearranged, and well...
We're back where we started. Come back soon, there's still more to see!
It's all looking pretty amazing to me! I love that big old tree- power cord (ahem) and all! I think the bannister is looking really nice, too! Can't wait to see what else you come up with- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteOh, the 12 foot tree is just breathtaking and the view up the stairs to the other tree - I feel like you just teased me! It would be so fabulous to see it in person. I have that same fairy/elf in my entry way too. She sits on my banister.
ReplyDeleteA very pleasant looking home.

What a pretty tree !! Not only do I save the pretty boxes, I actually have an empty one under my tree right now.... shhhh ! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove those cones, Kim! I also keep pretty empty boxes! You never know when you might be able to use them. That is some huge tree! Did you decorate it all by yourself? I ask, because we have a 7 1/2 foot fake tree and I do it myself.
