Table Stacking

Good morning, ladies!  I didn't realize it's been Thursday since my last post.  There must have been some method to my madness... although I can't think of what it might be at the moment.  Anyway, I thought I'd pass this little trick along to you.  It's an idea that is fun, interesting and useful.  I've used from time to time and you can, too.  It will add height and drama to your room, and most likely, a little extra space.

All you do is take a small side or accent table, or even a tiered plant stand, that will fit on your buffet or counter and stack it on top.  Ideally, your table will have a small bottom shelf.  The one I'm using here has legs that are swirly which adds even a little more interest.

This idea was helpful in my previous dining room, as it was rather small and narrow.  Stacking the table would draw your eye to the back of the room.

Use the top of the table for display:  Flowers, or even dessert, to be brought down when it's time to be served.

The shelf gives you some storage space, there's even room underneath.  I'll bet this would work, too, with a small cabinet that opened.  You could leave it open and put supplies or a display item right in it.

If you have high ceilings--and a lot of newer construction does--table stacking will add height and visual interest to an otherwise empty space.  Or, if you have a lot of dishes, and I know many of you do, this is another way to display them.

Since I had planned to do this post, I thought I'd "fall" up my buffet.  This time around, it got traditional fall colors with some silver.  It's one of my favorite arrangements, at least until the next one ;).

(silverplate flatware was a wedding gift to my parents)

I hope I gave you an idea or inspiration to used in the coming holiday, entertaining season!  Do you have a small table with which you could do this?
