Going Blue and White

How are you all doing this week?  Has everyone come and gone (or would that be gone and come?) from their vacations?  This summer has kept me hoppin', I can't believe it's August already, can you?  It's just a few weeks before the kids start school, are you ready for that?  I did have enough time to squeeze in a trip to good ol' G Dub, however.  Look what followed me home.  By the way, I went on a Saturday and it was quite busy--I felt like I really had to grab an item if I wanted it.

I've been warming up to blue and white recently because it is so classic, and when I found these beauties, thought they would be an inexpensive way to give it a go.  I wanted to keep the wall full and balanced, since it's a tall wall, so hung them a little higher than I otherwise might have.  Another thing I'm not used to is white, white.  If I have a choice, I almost always choose an creamy white.

I think the pictures look a little kitchen-like, but I was hoping the colors of the peaches and pears would really complement, as in sah-weet, with this wall color.  You are also looking at a relatively new ticking table runner that I put together for my Jane Austen shower.

To fill in the lower, empty space, so the prints wouldn't look like they were floating, I used my two thrift vases.  Fortunately, their background color is a true white.

I added white ironstone plates on the ledges to tie in with the white again.  My urn with the golden, orange-y hibiscus have bounced around from the table to the buffet.  I wanted something centered and tall to be a focal point.

This is what my buffet looked like this Spring.  My mirror has been here since we moved in, {heart} the mirror!

Here is some beautiful inspiration I found.  I could pull this off kinda, sorta if I put my big mirror back up and, ya know... pick up some porcelain.   What do you think, should I get rid of the prints and look for platters and vases like this?

I should be able to do something like this, too, (above) if I build a smaller collection for my entry table (below).

I do a double-take when I walk past the dining room since blue has been banished from my home for years and years in favor of green.

One last peek.  How do you like it?  (I did buy a new SD card and when I put it in to use it yesterday, the camera showed in red letters--memory card not compatible.  Apparently, my camera is smarter than I am!  So, I am still using my old SD.)  Warmly,

  5. I love blue and white- always have. I've collected tones of it over the years and hoped to have a dinning room in those colors. Unfortunately this won't work because the tile in the room clashes with blue and white:(
