Designer Bird's Nest

Using the elements from yesterday's "sneak peek" our little bird friend got a "designer nest."

I used floral netting and covered the lamp shade skeleton.  The netting was trimmed to size using wire cutters.  I then wrapped the wire, by hand, around the lamp shade frame.

From there, it received a coat of ORB (I left the candlestick "as is").

All's it needed then was some E-6000 glue to attach the wired frame to the candlestick.  To "build" the nest, I tucked moss down into the form and nestled a $1 thrift store nest into it.  I picked up the bird at JoAnn's, I think.  However, after seeing the photos, I thing I'd like the arrangement better with the nest only.  The bird looks a little creepy to me.

I've been hearing the birds outside, so it's been fun bringing a hint of Spring indoors.  I hope Spring's coming to your neck of the woods!

  2. You had me, I never would have thought of this idea. Of course, I many times see all the elements and then wonder how in the world they came up with clever ideas like this. Wonderful.

  4. How on EARTH did you think of that?
This is, quite possibly, the most creative craft I have ever seen.
The sign of an eccentric mind! LOL!

  16. I'm always amazed by what you do with things that I probably would have just tossed away thinking they'd outlived their usefulness! It really makes you think Spring!

I'm a new follower here, but I'm actually an old blog friend who's just moved to a new home. I'd love it if you stopped by and said hello sometime!

Have a great rest of the week!

  19. I laughed out loud at your "creepy" comment. The bird looks a bit startled, I'll admit, but not creepy. This is a great project. How clever of you to turn a lamp shade frame into a lovely display like this.
