Guest Home

You know I got back from vacation earlier this week...  I thought I'd share some photos with you where we stayed.  Here's the view we had from a wrap around front porch with a built in swing.  It was quite hot and steamy, so we weren't able to make as much use of it as we would have liked.
Many people have guest rooms, we were lucky and blessed enough to have a guest home.  Yep.  This is the home we got to "borrow" for a week in Tennessee.   Come on in, I'll show you around.
This is what you see when you enter through the front door.  It's one of my favorite vignettes--because there is a bench--which would be somewhat expected, but it's used for a picture gallery--which isn't!  Isn't this a great idea?
If you turn clockwise from the bench we just saw, you will see this corner hutch.  It contains dishes, transferware and other odds and ends which you'd normally find in a dining room.   There's plenty of room in the foyer and the dining room is right through the doorway to the left.

If you peek through the doorway beyond the hutch, you'll see the dining room.

These window treatments are hung on knobs.  What makes them interesting is there are as many strips of fabric hung individually.  The swag holder is w-a-y at the top.

Keep turning clockwise and you'd be facing the front entrance.  Take a look overhead and you will see this arrangement of pots.  (I would guess this is at least five-feet long.)

A quick look into the kitchen to see a pretty arrangement on top of another corner hutch in the kitchen.  It's painted green with a coat of glaze.

Now, I'm going to back you up and start at the front entryway, again.   This time we'll go straight into the family room.
After you pass through the foyer, you'll see this arrangement.  The homeowner did a wonderful job of mixing shaker style furniture with some more exotic and lush elements.
The ceiling is double-height because it accommodates an open staircase.
A closer look at the mantel wall.  Isn't it stunning?
Through the doorways of the family room on either side of the fireplace is a compact sun room.  It contains a couple of leather chairs and a small dinette set with a wall mounted TV.  It's quite cozy for a cup of morning coffee and checking e-mail.  For some reason, the above photo is the only one I have of that room(?), so you'll have to trust me on my "cozy" assessment.   Anyway, I hope you enjoyed tagging along with me.  Be thankful I didn't share our hiking photos - the kids look cute, but my Darling Husband and I look quite bedraggled!

Don't forget my stenciled pillow Giveaway.
