Smackdown - Thrift Tray

I feel like I've been a blogger MIA.  I have a big project up my sleeve that I was hoping I could post Saturday morning, but the finishing product said to let it dry 24-hrs. before using it "for real".   Yesterday, I spent the day with my mom since I won't see her on Sunday.

Instead, I get to cross off a Smackdown item from my sidebar list.

This is a $2 thrift tray that I did not get a "before" photo of (why?-I'll probably find it on some directory that I didn't want it downloaded on - tell me other people do that).  It was a darker brown with a pear decal on it.

It got primer and Heirloom white.  Then I decopaged a beautiful Graphics Fairy picture on it, the color just wasn't right.

So I added mocha glaze.  Still not right.

Then I added a little black paint smeared around.  Still.  Not.  Right.

The white paper was too white against the Heirloom white, so I looked around for white paint - oops, only glossy white.  Finally, I found some white fabric paint - that'll do.  It's better.  I'm glad it was only a $2 tray.  I do like it, now.  Tres chic!

Sneak peek for next week...
