I've liked head planters ever since I recall seeing them, which I think was a few years ago in the Ballard Designs catalog. This little guy (girl?) was a terra cotta tea light holder that I found at the thrift store awhile ago, I think for $1. This is what it looked like then. Not really very lovable.
With a little doctoring-up, he now looks like this. I wanted to put more drapey plant/hair in it, but I couldn't find what I had in mind, so he got some succulents that I already had hanging around.
Since you bloggy buddies keep me on my toes, I had to rearrange my hutch again. This time I used a lot of my feelin' blue items, and moved them over here.
(Um, yeah, with my awesome new tripod I can get a shot of the underneath, unpainted side of the shelf, which I knew you were hoping to see.)
I am so glad I did! It looks so much more nice and cool (as in not hot) now. Usually I leave this area "as is" I'm very frolicking-around happy about this change - Ahh.
Did you notice my newest cheese dome turned cloche?
I took my candlestick re-vamp:
But, wait, there's more! I just smoochy-loved the alpha balls Courtney at Red Heads Craft More Fun did, so I had to copy them. I purchased 1 1/2" wooden balls from Micheal's and some alpha stamps. (Note: I did not like this set of stamps, because what I didn't realize is each color is a different style, so I don't have A-Z of the same font.) Being, uh demanding, discriminating, exacting, finicky, fussbudgety, hard to please - you get the idea... I wanted them a specific shade of white, which is my trim color, Rice Grain (SW), so I put them in an egg carton and painted them with a brush, spray paint would have been easier. Oops, a mishap with the "K" - do over!
This is a dozen, and I have a dozen more in the
I didn't shoot the top of my hutch 'cause I didn't get it done, yet. I have an idea or two, that I think you will like, that will take a little more time than I have right now. So, next week, 'K? I'm linking with: Table Top Tuesday's with Marti at A Stroll Through Life.
Love the look of your hutch. It is so pretty with all of your gorgeous accessories. Love the way you have all of your vignettes arranged. You are so creative. This would be a great post to add to Table Top Tuesdays. It's for anyplace that we create vignettes. Hope you will join us. I will have Mr. Linky up by 5PM Monday evening. Hugs, Marty

ReplyDeleteLooking at your hutch makes me realize that I NEED one, too!! I love how you have it all decorated and I LOVE the alfa balls! Here I thought they were so expensive and you showed us all how to do it! (Now if only I had picked up that cheese dome I saw at the thrift store yesterday!!)

it all looks great. i love the idea of the alpha balls, but i think my patience level is not ready for that sort of task. i could see it being very frustrating, but they look awesome.
ReplyDeleteLove your arrangements. So many nice things that you have pulled together. I'm looking for a bookcase/cabinet for our living room to bring some accessories higher up. I'm still working on my vignettes, and yours is inspiring.
ReplyDeleteAlpha Balls ... my thoughts did not match up with your blog on that one. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this project...it is really coming together nicely!
