Even More Revealing Befores and Afters

Welcome back to a lot more before and after pictures!  I hope you enjoy the tour almost as much as we do!
Before, the credenza is sitting at the end of the dining area.  The credenza didn't get moved, but the finery on the top of it did.  Keep a sharp eye out, you will see the accessories in New & Improved spots in our photos.

"Afters" feel brighter and fresher.

Fun note, the homeowner hot glued moss on plastic wiffle balls for the glass containers.
The dining area, below, not so inspiring.
The revamped version... the vintage suitcase belonged to the homeowner's grandfather, and the antique pitcher is mended with real horse hair.

Entry area, needs a little scale-tweaking.  Below, below are grates the homeowner intended to use as a headboard- I told you we "shopped the house."

Living room, before, awash in white...
Now, I hope you will think it is more inviting.  These adjustments were pretty easy, the lamps were moved in from the family room, a table that was tucked in the corner is now the "coffee" table (don't worry, we put a corresponding lamp on a plant stand in it's place).  What you can't see, a yummy green, wool area rug anchors the room.

The piano is across from the sofa in the previous photos - part of the living room, and right what you see upon entry.

The below artwork will be hung on the wall.  Scroll back up to the first photos.  Go ahead, I'll wait, dum-de-dum...  Are you back?  This is reframed, sandwiched (floating) in glass.  Since you've made it this far in the post, do you have any guesses as to whom this might be?  If you guessed the client's son, ding, ding, ding, you'd be right!  This is in pastel's, done by the grandmother.  It looks so much more like a work of art.  (Sorry for the reflections of the lamps, he's looking up, you can't really tell at what.)

The following pictures are for Polly of Make Mine Beautiful.  She was intrigued by the picture above the mantel.  Before, matted in teal.  Hi, Polly!

After, how adorable is this in the distressed barn wood?  The drawing is an original of the client's daughter, again done by the client's mother.  How wonderful is that?!?  By the way, this daughter is now married - happy face!  Wouldn't it be a blessing if the grandmother could do another sketch of this grand daughter's child?

I just wanted you to see how the mantel "rounded out".  Yes, light in the late afternoon is a killer for photos along this wall!

Let's take a quick peek in the kitchen.  Who can forget the florescent lights, once so popular?
Oooo, canned lights, stainless appliances...the cabinets are a pickled finish, they are in good condition, the knobs were changed out.  Drat, I still didn't get a good shot of the granite!  I owe you one!  Since you all have been so patient, I'll at least show it to you in the selection phase.

A little shot of the actual granite we chose.

Well, those are the best of the best pics I have right now.  I'm pretty sure I'll be sneakin' in a couple of more in a future post.  I want to give some recognition to Donna at Funky Junk Interiors.  I've been following her photography series and implementing many of her tips.  This week I bought one of these:
When my DH got back into town he told me he already had two!  Never used or opened!  So this one is going back.  I used DH's for all of the after photos in this post.  The only problem with the one I took with me is the base didn't tilt, so I couldn't do any vertical photos.  Now, with the extra money I'll have from the return, I might just get a set of those work lights...

I'm joining Kendall's Shop The House Sunday party.  Other than the obvious remodeling, the accessories, lamps, silk plants, urns... were shifted from other rooms or recesses of the house.  The only new items are the silver tray, bowl and sphere. :)
