New Shower Curtain, Painted Mirror

Can you tell what this is?
It is a photo of Cabby's new shower curtain. I just finished it today. It was a LOT little more fussy to work on than I had hoped.

I tried to get a shot of the button holes. It's made the same way as the one in my previous shower curtain post. This one is quite wide - easily over 100". It's a sheer garden-y fabric. There is newly installed beadboard in the bathroom, so she wants to go with a garden theme.

You've seen this mirror before in the "What is This Stuff For?" post. I was crossing my fingers that this technique would work. Cabby wanted a white mirror with splotches of silver on it. First I spray painted the wood silver, then gave it three coats of white semigloss. Lastly, I took sandpaper and sanded some of the white off. Yea! It turned out. ( It's one thing if my "visions" don't turn out like I want them. It's another thing trying to capture some else's vision! )

Next up is a lamp for the living room. It started out a dark metal. Normally, I don't mind dark lamps, but there the room is just too dark, so I want to add lighter accessories.

I didn't intend to paint it all white, just the raised areas, but such is the control, or lack of it, with spray paint. I was attempting to hit the flat areas with gold/yellow to give it some depth. If the gold is too bright, I'm going to try glazing over it. (Fingers crossed.)

I'm heading over to her house tomorrow. I'm hoping I can get the curtain rods installed in the family room. I'll keep you posted. If I'm (we're) lucking I'll have new photos.

  1. Hi Kim,
The frame with the silver peeking through turned out great!
I think this is the first time I've been on your blog, but it won't be my last. I will add your blog to my blog roll, thank you for carrying my button.
Neat idea putting all the party buttons on your sidebar two across. I can only seem to get one across on my sidebar.
