Now, quit laughing! I'm sure your momma told you it wasn't polite to laugh out loud at someone. Let's take a look at my inspiration.

Sorry, I couldn't get it to copy over here better.
It looked lovely, classic, with a touch of romantic softness. I thought it looked gauzy, and "hey," I had muslin, it was a done deal. Does it look like a grandma bedtime hat to you?
...I remember this book illustration from when I was a child...the resemblance is uncanny...

Back to the drawing board, I'd say. I flung a few other fabric remnants on the other shade to check them out with the new gold! paint color.
This fabric looked really good against the wall color.
But. I dunno, stripey/stripey.
I think I'll take the striped scrap to the fabric store and see if I can find something else that will work well in the room.
Sigh, I guess I'm not destined to be romantic. Or, at least my dining room isn't.

It does look a little like a bed bonnet. I think you are on the right track though....you just need a lighter weight fabric :o) Love your lamps!!!

Oh Kim you made me chuckle. It really seemed ok up close, but it doesn't seem to fit the space when I saw it on the table top. I hate fails. I have had plenty of them. You will get it just right.
ReplyDeleteA granny cap! You crack me up, Kim.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that look fit the style of the lamp, anyway. Have fun finding another fabric. :-)
Kim,
ReplyDeleteI did snicker a little, sorry! Love the fox picture! You gave it a good try :)

I really like the stripe. It looks good. I guess I am not the romantic type.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a fabulous idea. Maybe for a bedroom. Seems like your buffet and mirror are just a little too dressy for the slip. Love that mirror, it is fabulous. Hugs, marty
ReplyDeleteomg you are hilarious.. you will figure it out.
ReplyDeleteWell, you can always wear it to bed as a granny cap or, better yet, as a micro mini skirt. just sayin' xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteI agree with Diana....you can always use it as a hat!!!!
It's cute and a great idea maybe for the bedroom. You'll get it right. Love your vingette btw.
hugs
Sissie
I think the striped fabric is better but the gathered lamp skirt is a good idea. Maybe you could use the bonnet in another room. LOL
ReplyDeleteHere's another idea
