Guest Room Reveal

You've waited through the window treatments and artwork, and even got sidetracked into my midlife crisisAnd, gosh, thanks for all of your responses.  Hair is certainly an important subject for us women, isn't it?  It's about time we got a look at that guest room I've been working on!  Remember, I still need to paint the chest, so that's conspicuously missing, but the rest of the room is coming along so well.  I want to do paint touchups on the wall, but still need to get some Goo Gone or something and find the right paint.  I had a sample, but it doesn't look quite like what's on the walls.  I don't know if it's one of those paint color-changing mysteries, or it's really the wrong can of paint.

Hey, hey--"Hi, all!" that's me in the orange shirt reflected in the "Faith" picture.  Let's have a chit-chat about what was accomplished.  You know about the window treatments and artwork.  For the bedding, I found a down duvet at the thrift store.  It was in mint, just-laundered condition for $15.

I was going to make a duvet cover for it, BUT when we were out of town recently, the hotel used a plain flat sheet as a spread over the blankets.  I was on board with that, as it is sooo much easier.  It looks like it could use pressing--but really--I'm not pressing it unless I have bona fide company.  Maybe.  I found this tan bedding at Walmart.  What I did for the box spring was buy a fitted sheet and put it over the box spring in lieu of a bedskirt, that's the bottom left photo, although it's hard to tell.  I did that because I still wanted open space between the bottom of the bed and the floor.

The lamp was a perfect, perfect find.  I got it the same time I found the draperies at Tuesday Morning.  When I got to the checkout, it rang up as 1/2 off--I got it for $25!  The square purple pillow in front is a Walmart find--I'm not sure if I'm keeping it or not.

I ran out of bird fabric, so the back of the pillow shams have about 2/3 bird fabric and the rest solid black.  I don't remember if I mentioned this before or not, but pre-blogging days, my Dad put the plywood headboard together and I covered it with foam, batting, and microsuede.  Also, I really wanted the frames hung in a horizontal line, but the scale was too small to work right.  (After Healthy Chick saw my post on those, she asked for them back!)

Another little touch.  This mirror (from Ikea) was purchased for my bedroom.  I decided against it, but here it is framed out nicely in the doorway of the bathroom.  The towels are purple, again from Walmart.  The ribbon tied around the towel is from my scraps.

I didn't get a full shot of the ladder shelf, but I did clear it off accept for a few accessories.

Including this clip on light that was lurking somewhere in the house and a drawing mannequin  ($5 from Ikea).

(sorry, I had to use the weird flash this a.m.)
Approximate cost breakdown:
Draperies $25
Lamp $25
All Bedding $56
Fabric/fringe $40
Misc. accessories $75 (approx.)
Total $221

Gosh, when it's added all up $221 doesn't sound too cheap, but as you can see I got good prices on everything!  Fun coincidence, the purple Christmas bulbs were in a pack along with pearly white ones I got last year at the thrift store.  They were in a pile ready to be donated back, when I realized purple would go just right in here.  (This room may have a couple more Christmas decorations added to it, stay tuned.)   The Strapping Lad stayed here this week.  He said the bird fabric is decidedly not masculine.  Now, I have to go focus on my Christmas decorating!
