Pantry Followup

If you visit Cheap Chic Home regularly, you will remember the pantry predicament that I had with moths.  Insert very, very sad face here.  Since Simple Mom is organizing pantries this week, I thought it would be a good time to give you an update.

Pantry before reminder

Here it is with most of the items place back in, along with a new coat (or two) of Ben. Moore's Concord Ivory.  This room doesn't get a whole lot of light, top that with we have thunderstorms today along with tornado watches, so I decided to bring in my work light.  It gives the room an eerie look.  (I can almost hear the Psycho music...)  (These cr*ppy photos are really getting on my nerves.  Darling Husband thinks getting a new storage card for my camera may help.)

A comment I received on my first pantry post, suggested I put lavender in my pantry to ward off moths.  I made these little burlap bags, filled them with lavender, labeled them with a Sharpie (hey, why not?) and set them in various spots, however, I'm not sure they are doing the trick.  I can go days without seeing moths, then one or two will appear.  Still!  They do smell nice, though.

I just wanted to give myself a couple of kudos - please, allow me - and point out that I used my baskets to corral:  Lunch bags, snacks like pretzels, miscellaneous napkins and paper plates (Do you have those, too?  Orphans from parties and special occasions?  We often use them when we run out of regular napkins.)

I really like to hold lunch snacks in baskets, too, as no one ever throws away the empty boxes that they come in.   Please tell me I'm not the only one who will find a bunch of empty boxes in the pantry!  (Top photo.)

Some more items I inherited, faux vintage tins.  (I know I won't use these, so you'll probably see them in a future Giveaway.)

My silicon cupcake sentries are guarding the pantry, at least their little section of it.

  1. Hi Kim! Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about moths in your pantry! I wish I could tell you what to do. But I can suggest one thing...I'm having a cupboard party Tuesday and would love for you to come! You can read about it on my blog. You have everything fixed up so lovely it would be a shame not to share it with more bloggers! :)
    Hope you'll come.

  3. I know exactly what you mean about the boxes! My husband used to have a bizzare game with his Dad before we were married. Whoever was the lucky one to take the last snack, ice cream bar, etc. always left the empty box to fool the other into thinking there was one snack left! Go figure! With my kids? They'd like to claim it's because of a game! LOL!
Your pantry looks so nice, neat and organized!Wish I could say the same. Those cupcake guys are hilarious!

  6. I'm loving it! Sorry about the moths...and moth balls smell so horrible! I wish I knew something to recommend. The organization looks great! I've been arranging things on shelves in my kitchen. I haven't even cleaned up the mess from painting and I'm already trying to organize everything! I have decided what doesn't fit goes! The yardsale is planned for April 16th! Waahoo!!! I just need to arrange for a thrift shop to pick up whatever doesn't sell so I'm not tempted to bring anything back!
