Slipcover Magic

Slipcover magic--I'd say that's a redundant phrase.  Most dated items look new again with a slipcover.  Since I am on vacation, I thought I'd share the slipcovers that I made for a pair of chairs a few years ago.  When we first moved to FL we bought some groovy 80s chairs from my mom's neighbor to furnish our living room on the cheap.
Here it is stripped down.  Obviously, these weren't going to be my favorite pieces of furniture in their "before" peachy rattan state.  Enter some neutral striped fabric and some creative slipcovering and you can see them "after" in the living room from my former home, below.
It would have been fun to do a step-by-step process with this room, sigh.  The only new piece of furniture was the left console table purchased at an unfinished wood furniture store.  I think I'll have to do a future Home Tour post of my prior home.  As an additional note, it's probably time to donate (or try to sell these chairs), they don't really "go" in my new home very well.  The kids use them on the loft, where the top photo was taken.  There is a reason I never photograph that area--it's due for some TLC.

  1. What an unreal transformation. They don't look like the same chairs at all with the slipcovers. You did a great job on them. Very pretty. Hugs, Marty
