I'm sure you can tell what I've been up to in this photo! Using your regular Rice Krispie Treat recipe, grab a plastic Easter egg, spray or butter it first (butter seems to work better). Press Krispie mixture into each half and press closed. Remove and dust with sprinkles. It will help to keep a bowl of water nearby to rinse off your fingers between eggs because of all of the stickiness.
Next, there is another jar cookie recipe (like the foodie Christmas gift), this time with a s'more recipe.
Easter S'mores in a Jar
- Reduce 1 sleeve graham crackers to crumbs.
- Layer 2/3 crumbs into a 1 qt. jar.
- Place 8 marshmallow bunny peeps (varied colors) standing up.
- Press them up against the glass, but don't squash them.
- Carefully spoon remaining crumbs in the center of the jar to support the bunnies, pressing down to keep it snug.
- On top of this, pour 1 1/4 c. Easter M&Ms
- Spoon 1/3 cup brown sugar into center of M&Ms, gently pressing with a spoon.
- Decorate the lid of the jar however you please and tie ribbons around the neck of the jar.
Attach a gift tag to say:
Easter Bunny S'mores Instructions
- Empty the jar contents into a bowl. Snip the bunnies into bits with kitchen sheers or cut up with a knife. Return bunny bits to the mixture. Mix well.
- Melt 1/2 c. butter; add 1 teas. vanilla. Pour this over the dry ingredients, mixing well. Pat into a greased 9" square pan.
- Bake at 350o F for 15 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
Option: Leave bunnies whole, combine remaining ingredients and place the bunnies on top; then bake as directed.
I think both of these recipes are fun. Don't most of us have a cute egg plate, that doesn't get enough use? Plus, these are fun if your kids don't like real eggs. Either treat would be welcomed by sweet nieces and nephews, too.
I'm linking to Foodie Friday.
