Sweet. Heart "Stockings"

Please tell me I'm only "fashionably late!"  We don't usually make too big of a deal about Valentine's Day here, but I did have some leftover pink felt from -- hmmm, a bedroom project --  (see my previous post).

I decided to make some heart stockings - okay, okay - there's just no such thing as heart stockings.  What would you call them, then?  {wink!}  My brilliant idea?   Make a heart template, cut it out, sew the sides together, add a ribbon for hanging and a bow for that little "something extra".
This is how the pattern looked.  The seam was zig-zagged on my sewing machine, but there is no reason you couldn't glue it or hand stitch it.  (Disclaimer:  This was an "original" idea, so if you have seen this project on another blog, I didn't copy it...)  And because it's felt, any boo boos can be trimmed right off!
If you have a Boy, I think my Strapping Lad of a son would enjoy these heart stockings done in black, maybe with a red ribbon, and sour candy, of course. They would be cute birthday party favors, too.
Next, I pulled out all of my whites, reds and a few pink pieces of pottery.  (We have almost NO light here today so I used the "blinky" flash for some of these photos.)  I just {heart} the conversation candy in the stemmed glass with a candle.

It's amazing what you can find when you look around the house.  I had the pink raffia stored in a closet - raffia is another thing I {heart}.

Yummy layering.  I tried to get one full shot of the hutch.

This is much better!  If you wonder why so many of my photos are taken on my kitchen table, it's because I get the best light here, even on dreary days like today.

Well, I hope I wasn't too late for you to get another idea for Valentine's Day.  In a pinch you could put these together after church on Sunday (which is totally something I'd do by the way {smile})!  Have a wonderful, love-filled, blessed day with, who else?,  those you love!

Switching Gears - Bloggy Business:  Are you a Networked Blogger?  If you are, will you please link up with me in the column at the right?  I have been "virtually" pulling my hair out wondering why my posts didn't directly go to Facebook.  Yesterday, I ran across info that said I need to be "Networked" with a minimum of eleven bloggers for auto post to work  (I know, eleven's a weird number).  I would really appreciate it.  Leave me a comment if you would like me to come over and network with you.  Thanks!  (Image from NetworkedBlogs.com)

  4. Very cute heart stockings :) And neat idea, to hang them up and fill 'em with candy. I agree, an idea even sons would love, if they're filled with treats.

  9. Regarding my paint color -- haha. Thank you for posting, and also for the suggestion of new drawer pulls. I'm going to see what I can come up with from Hobby Lobby at 50% off. The color is a softer green tone now, although it really doesn't look that different now that it's all done (oh my)....

  13. You may be late, but I'm either later or early! I've been spending some time enjoying old posts and I just think these are adorable. Not to mention using a goblet as a candy/candle holder. Only 3 months and I can use them!
