Here are a couple to tide us all over and prevent a hostile takeover of the Cheap Chic Home blog. The headboard that I got last weekend for my mom, (I took it to her house, even though it's not a super-dramatic change we both like it in the space - oops, photo op. missed) was in Plant City. Since I was driving right by Southern Hospitality, I stopped in. Oh boy, what a fun place to shop, it's warehouse-like with half of it selling furniture and the other half craft/decor. I'm going to post pictures from my next visit there. The only thing I purchased that day was this fun dress form--I was immediately attracted to the colors and imagined all the fun aprons I could make for it/her. Okay, stop making fun of me! Things could be worse, I could be dressing up a ceramic goose!
Of course, she needed a necklace. With a locket. The tulle was an inspiration from Meg's Itty bitty Apron tutorial at Brassy Apple from last week's Fabric Fun Thursday. Thanks, Meg!
Sweet vignette? No?
I got this mounted disk a week or so ago at GW and spray painted it pistachio green. It'll probably get glazed in the future, it could use some depth.
It was originally dark brown, no kidding, right. It still had the $14.99 tag from the original store. My price? Glad you asked, $3.99. For a little variety, on the back flat side, I added a rub on.
This is all a part of my dining room makeover master plan...
Can you just see this little dress form dressed up for the season, or holidays. Admit it, ya'll want one now, too. I'd like to make something a bit fancier when I'm done with the slipcover sewing. (If you really think this dress form is a bad idea, let me know in the comments. Even though it seems fun, I'm willing to admit it's a tad, um, "crazy-lady-ish".)
Have I flipped my ever-lurvin' lid, or what?
Sneakin' 'n' peekin', slipcover preview. I hope I have one completely done by Thursday, four would be even better. (I think my pictures have an "angelic glow" because my camera wasn't screwed onto the tripod as tightly as it should have been.) I'm sharing with:

How cute! And those slipcovers, look gorgeous! Can't wait to see the final reveal!

Your vignette came out so charming, beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find and your vignette is so much fun. Can't wait to see the slipcovers. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little dress form. I just passed one up at GW and have been kicking myself about it!! Might stop by today and see if it is still there!
ReplyDeleteIt is precious Kim! I saw something like that at Pier 1 as well. So cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by for a nice visit today. I do hope you try the yummy chipolte shrimp soon. I'm so proud of you and can't wait to read your success story. I'm truly flattered I helped to inspire you in some small way.
Have a great week. ~Melissa :)
That is a very cute little dress form and I love a touch of whimsy added to a room. Then it isn't so stiff!
ReplyDeleteYou have taken on a major project with the slipcovers, Kim. WOW -- I admire you your stick-to-it-ive-ness. Isn't that an odd word? But that's what it takes when you are doing a SET OF SLIPCOVERS! I LOVE THE LITTLE DRESS FORM!
ReplyDeleteVery sweet! That dress form is adorable!

I love it and think it's whimsical, Kim! I'd keep it. I love the whole vignette and can't wait to see everything. I just saw a dress form at Pier 1 over the weekend {not on sale that I'm aware of}, but it just caught my eye as something fun.
ReplyDeleteThat is so adorable. So anxious to see the slips...doing TWO sets for my own dining chairs. Just for the seats so I can wash the cat hair off! You're right, they are time consuming. Hurry up so we can see and be inspired!
ReplyDeleteSooooooooooooo much better than one of those geese!!
ReplyDeleteYour little dress form and apron are adorable.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing it with us.
thanks for coming by my place too. =)
