Tiny DIY Trophies

Happy Monday!  Did you all have a relaxing weekend?  A productive one?  A stressful one?  Here at the CC Homestead, I sewed an awful lot, but don't have anything to show you.  Yet.  But, in the world of serendipitous blogging--you know the one--where you see something like the really cool old-school silver trophies and think they would be fun to own, and, yet, realize that you're not sure if you want to invest in one.  Then, you are innocently perusing the party isle at Walmart and get an idea.  Yes, you read that right.

In the party isle, you will find a four-pack for $1 of these tiny trophies (approx. 2" tall) in a shiny gold.  A little spray paint later and you have a darling miniature collection.

For whatever reason, these took a long time to dry.  I don't know if it was because I didn't have spray paint specifically for plastic, or they just got a heavier coat of paint, by the virtue of the fact they are so small.  I tried both matte and shiny silver paint.  The shiny won--hands down.

You may even decide you want to redo your entire hutch (which has been woefully neglected since Christmas, anyway).

What do you think a tiny collection of trophies would inspire you to do?  Maybe hold a contest for some fairies or gnomes?

Or award yourself a trophy for being so thriftily clever?

I've got a pretty full week ahead of me.  I'm hoping I'll have at least a decent sneak peek of what I've been working on soon.  I thought I'd get the entire project done this weekend, to which we could all laugh hysterically!

I wish I would have kept HubbyDoc's trophies from when he was little. I could have done something cool like this. :)
Great idea!

Well, aren't those the cutest little trophies ever? Sooo much better in the silver than "plastic gold". I think you should emblazon your name on the front of one along with the word CLEVER~! xo Diana

They are cute, Kim! I thought you were going to say you bought them like that. I love them in this silver. It actually looks like pewter in a couple of the pictures. Looking forward to seeing what you've been working on. I did a few paper type crafts this weekend. I'm trying to get myself geared up to paint my dresser this week, since I got the paint this past Thursday.

What a cute use for these. When I was teaching, I gave them to students who passed their math benchmark tests. I made a big deal out of the presentation. Now I wish I'd kept some of them, instead of passing them on to my friend.

Kim, I don't know what a caged Santos is for the dress form party? It may be fabulous and then I could award you one of your cute little trophies as a prize LOL!In all my thrifting days I have never come across a real trophy!

Just darling! I started collecting old bowling trophies to give away for a wii bowling party. Hmmm, then why do I still have most of them? I bet you can guess.

So much detail in such a tiny item! You truly transformed the little trophies with the silver paint...great imagination to see beyond the gold finish. I saw your post over at " At Stroll Thru Life".
