Book Page Art Inspiration

Hey friends!  I've had a cold this week, so have been feeling sorry for myself.  How are you doing?  Fortunately, I've had this inspirational post planned so I can take another day a little bit "easier."  (Ha, ha, like any of us has time to do that!)  Anyway, I've been wanting to share with you a sampling of Strapping Lad's girlfriend's art.  (She needs her own blog name and Artsy Chick's already taken, hmm.  Today, let's refer to her as Ellie)  Ellie just graduated in December and the seniors had their artwork displayed in their school's gallery.  She works with mixed media and part of the media is book pages and maps, so even though most of us aren't bona fide artists, we can still be inspired, right?

Grandpa (10" W x 1 1/2" H)

Detail of Grandpa--Origami book pages, fibers, using an embroidery hoop as a frame.

Elegance (5" W x 12" H)

Origami book page flowers, fibers.

Untitled (Approx. 15” H x 24" L x 6” D)

Book page flowers in a crate, straight pins, fibers

Grandma (12" W x 3" H)

Great Grandma (12" W x 3" H)

"Spokes" are sisal.

Mapping (2' H x 4' W)

The flowers are origami map pieces

This is just a sampling of Ellie's work.  I didn't ask her, but I would assume she would be delighted to make a commissioned piece.

Graduation Day
(Strapping Lad had his wisdom teeth pulled earlier in the week, so he is still swollen.  Poor him.)
All art photos are from Ellie's website, as well as, other of her pieces.  I hope you enjoyed seeing Ellie's creations.  You've seen some of her other work, previously, on the frame post.   She's been a part of our family for several years, now, and rounds us out quite well.  And, we can't quite believe she's graduated from college already!  Yikes, where does the time go?
