Burlap Basket-More Pottery Barn Inspiration

Mine.

(Okay, their photographer gets paid more!)

Good morning, friends!  Isn't it a lovely day for bold-faced copying inspiration?!  I don't typically do back-to-back knockoffs, but I guess since the new catalogs have been arriving, I've been in the depths of pages and pages of inspiration.

I saw what Pottery Barn calls a "burlap basket" and used burlap I had sitting around in my newly repurposed armoire, along with a good-sized interfacing remnant and came up with this.

Although, I used a stiff facing, the "basket" still has some "give."  Making it the perfect spot to store soft items, like a spare throw or extra pillows.   I had to give it the VIP tour of being photographed in different helpful spots around the house.  I just realized that I wanted to try to use it as a planter for one of my silk trees, too, but forgot while I was taking pictures.  Rats.  (See also:  Pottery Barn Dominoes)

This basket-bag would be really cute in one of the outdoor fabrics (because of their weight).  The drawstrings make it easy to grab-and-go--which I guess you'd need for a chilly (and it will get chilly sooner or later) movie night--Hey!  Grab the spare pillows and throw for me, would ya?!

Nice!  I promise to keep my inspiration-copying down to a minimum (although, you can't see whether I have my fingers crossed.  Or not.)  How-to instructions will be coming in a future post.

Edited to Add:  How-to directions HERE.

You did a fabulous job! I think you're getting higher-quality burlap than I can find around here.

I love this basket. I have a coffee sack I want to do the same thing with. Did you use a pattern or just wing it?

I spotted that exact burlap basket in PB and had the same thought as you have had. I just have not gotten around to making mine yet. I just love it!!! Was it tough to work with the burlap and the canvas together?
